Preparation for the Inaugural Caribbean Games took another major step forward towards their realization last week. The Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) and the Organising Committee of the Caribbean Games2022 (OCOCG2022) came together, having invited the designated Technical Delegates from the International/Continental Federation for each of the sports on the Games competition program.
The program saw the OCOCG2022 making a comprehensive presentation on the status of the preparations in which they are engaged, the challenges, and a sense of the way forward. Each of the local sports personnel for the Games delivered brief presentations on their findings and recommendations.
The Technical Delegates were taken on individual visits to their respective training and sport venues where they were allowed to assess the venues, equipment, and ancillary facilities. Following the visits, the Technical Delegates and their local counterparts discussed the outcome of the analyses and produced recommendations where deemed necessary. The findings and recommendations were presented to a joint meeting with the OCOCG2022 and CANOC.
No doubt there are challenges yet to be adequately addressed. However, the process is well on its way and CANOC is satisfied that all of the requirements can be met and the Games realized as a success.
